I can only choose from American districts in the scroll down menu when in towns. How do I choose European servers? This is quite a big deal since I live in Europe myself. I thought you could choose any district no matter where you lived? Maybe it has something to do with my copy of the game?

When you login, instead of choosing your character and hitting play - Hit Options. There is an option to change you to the European servers.

And no, you don't get to choose whatever countries servers you like ingame. You can only swith between American and European servers 4 times with your account.

You can however go to the international servers

EDIT IN: I'll give you the reason. In this game, the best PvE sections of the game can only be gotten into if your server's country is in favor with the gods. If people could swith freely, Then one or the other's servers would always be PACKED and crashing - because everyone would like come to America when america had favor..and so on.
